Fun Fall Activities in the Pittsburgh Area

Fall is upon us, but what is open and what isn’t open due to COVID-19? Here are some fun seasonal places to visit.

Trax Farms Harvest Days: Open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday-Sunday through November 1st.  

Tickets for Harvest Days can be purchased online and cost $10. Reservations are required and will not be refunded due to weather. 

Tickets include access to hayrides, a 3-acre corn maze, farm animal viewing, and the Pumpkin Patch (pumpkins are not included in the ticket price). Trax Farms is also a great place to take fall photos with friends and family.  

Even though the Harvest Days are ending very soon, Trax Farms Market is open year round from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Head over there soon to get plenty of seasonal decorations, gifts for family, and delicious food.

Trax Farm is roughly a 38-minute drive from Carlow. Make a pit stop in South Park on your way to the farm and take a scenic walk surrounded by beautiful fall foliage!

Zombies! Of The Corn: Open Friday and Saturday nights in October. 

Have you ever played Call of Duty: Zombies? Well, this attraction brings that zombie game to life! Zombies Of The Corn takes you on a hayride through a corn maze where you are equipped with a paint ball gun. Riders shoot at zombies as they pop up from the maze. 

You can buy tickets online or in person. Admission starts at $35 and includes: 

  • Ride on the Battle Wagon (150 paintballs) 
  • Walk-through zombie compound 
  • Zombie maze 
  • Ghost storyteller 
  • Outdoor movie theater 
  • Campfires 
  • Photo op areas  

Zombies! Of the Corn is a 37-minute drive from Carlow. Grab some dinner with your friends in Cranberry Township followed by a zombie filled night!  

Demon House: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in October.  

This haunted attraction takes place in a real haunted house. Demon House stands three stories tall with a basement. As legend has it, while building the property over 100 years ago, workers found a human hand. After the gruesome discovery, construction on the house came to halt. Upon further investigation, over seventy bodies were found placed in unmarked graves. Enter this haunted house if you dare!  

You can buy tickets at the box office, which opens at 7 p.m. Check out the Demon House website here for directions and instructions for the shuttle bus.  

Demon House is a 43-minute drive from Carlow.  

Dependable Drive In: Open nightly: First showing 7:30 p.m., second showing around 9 p.m. 

You can’t go wrong with a visit to the drive in during the fall months. For the month of October, Dependable Drive In shows Halloween movies. Currently Friday the 13thHocus PocusSpell, and Come Play are showing.  

Gates open at 6:45 p.m. Adult tickets cost $8 dollars, and children cost $3 dollars. Check out the Dependable Drive In website here for their COVID-19 procedures and more. 

Dependable Drive In is a 31-minute drive from Carlow.
