Do you like Bridgerton? If you do, watch these shows on Netflix to get more period piece drama you’ve been craving.
The Crown
A massive favorite that follows Queen Elizabeth II’s reign and how she changed the 20th century. While this show does not have the love interests Bridgerton has, it does have the suspense that they seemed to have perfected. With the newest season starring Helena Bonham Carter as Princess Margaret, view this exciting series on Netflix.
Reign
Another favorite of mine, this show follows the rule of a young Mary, Queen of Scots. A young princess is sent to France to find a husband. Over the four seasons it was on The CW, the show followed Mary through her rise in the French Court. Breathtaking outfits, ongoing political intrigue, and the multiple love stories in this series, get ready to binge it on the weekend!
The Tudors
Yes, you guessed it. This show is about the reign of King Henry VIII’s forty-year reign. The series looks at Henry’s famous female companions like Catherine of Aragon and Anne Boleyn and delves into his relationships with important figures like Sir Thomas More and Cardinal Wolsey. Check out Hulu or Showtime for this period piece.
Here are some other shows produced by Shonda Rhimes:
Grey’s Anatomy
I, along with other people, have watched just about every episode of this show. About every person that you can talk to knows about Grey’s Anatomy. Starring Ellen Pompeo, the series focuses on the lives of surgical interns, residents, and attendings as they develop into seasoned doctors while balancing personal and professional relationships.
Scandal
Another favorite of mine – this show is a political thriller that takes place in the lawsuit office of Olivia Pope (played by Kerry Washington) in Washington D.C. Scandal is about all of the—yes—scandals that go on in the White House and in Olivia’s personal life.
